From On the River
The Go Sketch assignment is about documenting your experience visually while near the Grand River. Grab a piece of paper or sketchbook. Spend some time sketching an interesting site. Take a digital image or scan in your artwork.
As photographs have risen to prominence for the purpose of documentation, the usage of drawings and sketches have declined because of their "subjective" nature. Instead of seeing places and things through a lens of so-called objectivity afforded us by the modern camera, let's share our views as recorded by our eyes, minds, and hands.
How to make a page for a Sketch:
Make a separate page for each sketch. Click the link above to post a sketch. It will ask you to name the page you want to create. Type in a very brief description of where you drew your sketch (its only one sketch per page.) Ex. “Sketch of (subject) near (landmark or street)” or something similar. After typing in a name, it will bring you to an edit content page where you can upload a main photo for your sketch, type a description of the location, and upload more images (such as a photograph of the site). To mark a map location, type in "Grand Rapids" and search for your area. Changing the view to 'satellite' also helps to see landmarks that the other map does not show.
