One of the criticisms we have heard about ArtPrize entry Nessie is that the Loch Ness monster has nothing to do with Grand Rapids or the Grand River. We wondered what ideas there might be to situate the monster idea in our context - in the Grand River - in Grand Rapids. So we invite you to come up with ideas for monsters in the Grand.

The Monsters of the Grand River assignment invites people to come up with ideas for monsters that might live in the Grand River. You can share your ideas and post them here to our wiki by making a page for your Monster. You can describe your monster, make drawings/images of it or even do a 3d model and document it. If you find other images of the river on our site you can use them to put your monster in the river with drawing or photoshop.

Make a separate page for each monster. Click the link above. It will ask you to name the page you want to create. Type in a title for your monster Ex. “Smelly Sewer Rat” After typing in a name, it will bring you to an edit content page where you can upload a main photo for you your product, type a description of the monster and any details you find relevant and any other related ideas or content. You can upload more images and/or videos. To mark a map location type in "Grand Rapids" and search for your area. Changing the view to 'satellite' also helps to see landmarks that the other map does not show.
