Sarah Kanouse is interdisciplinary artist and critical writer interested in the ways histories, public spaces, and forms of citizenship produce one another. My recent work has focused on addressing and intervening in the formation of public memory, specifically labor history and Indian removal in the midwest, where I have lived for more than ten years. Additional interests include radical media, particularly pirate radio and self-publishing, cultural geography, and social movements. I currently work as an Assistant Professor in the Intermedia Program at The University of Iowa, where I teach classes on video art, art & ecology, and contemporary interdisciplinary practices.
