From On the River
Civic Studio invites people to write songs about the Grand River and share them as part of our On the River project. We will accept any form or style, any viewpoint or perspective, as long as it pertains to Grand River. If we can get enough public participation we will hold an event for the songs submitted. This call for submissions will be open through the end of our project in mid December, but the sooner everyone submits their songs the better chance we have of hosting an event for your creations!

So, where can you drop off your sweet river tracks?
One of these 3 options
- 1. You can upload your mp3 file below
- 2. You can email your mp3 file directly to [civicstudio@gvsu.edu].
- 3. You can drop off your CD or tape directly to us on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:00pm-5:00pm. Our studio is located on the Interurban (“Gillette”) Walking Bridge between Pearl Street and Bridge Street in downtown Grand Rapids. We would love to hear from you!
How to upload your Song About the Grand:
Make a separate page for each sound. Click the link above. It will ask you to name the page you want to create. Enter the Title of your Song as the name of the page. Ex. “I Lost My Shoe in the River by the Sixth Street Bridge” After typing in a name, it will bring you to an edit content page where you can upload related photos, videos, and select a location for your Song if appropriate. To mark a map location, type in "Grand Rapids" and search for your area. Changing the view to 'satellite' also helps to see landmarks that the other map does not show.
