The What Would Re-Rapids Look Like? is an assignment where images are being created (by programs such as Adobe Photoshop) that portray the power the river once had (before humans tamed it), as well as the looming power the river continues to silently possess. The assignment was based off of two ideas. The first idea being that the Grand River used to have large, fast-moving rapids, which have been eliminated over the years with the installation of dams. The second idea is that the Grand River is now expecting it’s 100-year-flood which would have the potential to overwhelm the floodwalls and consume large parts of the city.

How to make a page for the Grand Re-Rapids assignment:

Make a separate page for each re-rapids photo. Click on the link above. It will ask you to name the page you want to create. Type in a very brief description of where your proposed view of the Rapids back in the Grand. Ex. “Strong Rapids just south of the Sixth Street Bridge”. After typing in a name, it will bring you to an edit content page where you can upload your main image, type a description of the location, and upload more images. To mark a map location, type in "Grand Rapids" and search for your area. Changing the view to 'satellite' also helps to see landmarks that the other map does not show.
