Grand Rapids Spring Flora
Inspired by Emma ColeA few of Emma Cole’s plants were chosen from her book of native Grand Rapids flora.
In the process of drawing these plants, the importance of life was explored without all consuming technology. Life without a clock, without man-time. How could people tell which season they are living in? Through plants. It is a very instinctual way of knowledge.
The last page of this book entails instructions for one to create their own plant-carrying case, a vasculum. Paper and pencil are set aside, welcoming one to draw whatever plant they desire within the treasure chest.
