Woodland Workbook

Katherine Brewer

The Woodland Workbook is a piece of ephemera designed using AWANA* handbooks as a template. Instead of focusing on Christian education like the source material, the book has exercises and learning activities related to fungi. Designed to be a periodical zine it included a moon calendar that uses esoteric clip art to communicate the dates without the use of numbers or letters. The entire project is my way of distributing my own propaganda in order to seed my neighborhood with knowledge about evolution and indigenous history.

*AWANA is a children's ministry program with a curriculum focused on the gospel started in 1941 in Chicago. I personally attended AWANA as a child.
